  • Glades & Limestone: The Biopolitics of South Florida

    Advising
The culmination of Michaela Manzieri's studies and experiences in New York and Miami as a BA/BFA student in IDP and Interdisciplinary Science shaped her thesis project: a research-based installation piece in which she confronts and exposes hybridity and resilience in South Florida's biological and social history. Through the media of printmaking, sculpture, and bacterial aquaculture, Glades & Limestone: The Biopolitics of South Florida depicts multiple cases of colonization and transfection, focusing on both coral and human populations, past and present, with an eye to the problems caused by future sea-level rise.
