Mackenzie Hyde

My thesis project, Goodnight, Thank You, is a series of oil paintings of old family photographs. I focus on images that reveal a certain family dynamic, not necessarily ones that provide the perfect composition. I don't consistently see or have a relationship at all with some of my extended family. I used this project as a way to sort out who they were and what they meant to me. In addition to this, I made paintings about Canadian pop culture, specifically elements that were influential in my youth. The one painting from this series that made it into my thesis is the Tim Hortons still life, Tim Hortons being a fast-food restaurant that I frequented with family and friends.
