Advising

This project—a civic center located at One Times Square—uses design to alleviate the negative feelings that stem from being one of eight million in the city of New York. A community center, this space exists as a sanctuary of emotional expression in a city where a single voice is often drowned out by the crowd. The upward progression of the morphing spheres represents a desired emotional metamorphosis for visitors from homogeneous, mass-produced people into celebrated and understood individuals. As they progress, they group together to form a community based on a mutual understanding and appreciation of one another.
