Kiersten Dunkel

Under line is a collaboration between Danish dancers Siri Lindskrog & Laura Ravn and designer Kiersten Dunkel. The garments, choreographed performance, and video documentation explore contrast, harmony, and reflection at the intersection of design and dance. The visual transformation begins with forms that surround, protect, and restrict the body’s movements. From this a more fluid texture of movement and fabric emerges. Under these layers, the animalistic and intuitive nature of the body’s movement and form is revealed. The piece was performed at the Highline Loft Gallery in Chelsea, New York, on May 12, and filmed on the boardwalk at Coney Island.
