Night Blooming Orchid, Touched by Fire is a large hand-tufted wool rug I made using yarn colored with my own plant-based dyes. In creating this work, I applied my knowledge of botany and scientific illustration skills in combination with a traditional textile technique. In the crescent wetland hollow Night blooming orchid Touched by fire Flames its insect flag. Enmeshed in moss and lichen bark It is the pulse of the world Spiraling along the evershifting blink Of brightness and dark.
