Jihye Nam

My collection was inspired by Korean traditional dress, or Hanbok, which literally means “Korean clothing.” I wanted to reinterpret Hanbok by adding elements of modern sportswear to create simply shaped garments. I primarily used silk organza, which is the traditional fabric of Hanbok, layered and sewn together with big point stitches. I then painted over the layered organza with the traditional Korean painting technique of Seoye.
