Not a Woman Yet
Not a Woman Yet is a series of illustrations for a book exploring the trauma I experienced after being sexually abused and reflecting on actions I took as a child and now, as I grow into an adult. It serves as a response to and a way of breaking away from the stigma surrounding mental health. This project serves as a release for me and gives space to others who have been going through a difficult time. The book includes a list of hotlines, information on free and low-cost counseling, and apps that focus on self-care that people can use if they are seeking help. The ink illustrations can be used as temporary tattoos, giving people an alternative to self-harm. This idea comes from my own experience: Having an image on my skin or covering it has helped calm me at times when I have felt vulnerable.
