Into the Oven

Into the Oven
Into the Oven is an ode to the joy of baking, reflecting on the comfort that the baking process provides. The idea for Into the Oven started as a desire to fit baking into my busy schedule. I wanted to create a project that would allow me to spend time in the kitchen and to pursue my interest in writing, photography, and graphic design. In Into the Oven , I discuss my memories of baking while growing up and more recently, the experiential differences between baking from scratch and using a mix, and other baking-related subjects. I chose photography as the medium for the book’s illustrations, stemming from an interest in pushing the boundaries of what can be considered illustration. As a dual-degree student with writing as my second major, I see writing, with its ability to conjure images, as a form of illustration as well.
