This is a project about my grandparents. The design process started with the analysis of my grandparents’ living patterns in their existing apartment in Shanghai, and the design of the new house is located in a small town called Tunxi, in Southeast China. The aim was to design an environment that is sensitive to my grandparents’ daily routines as individuals and as a married couple, their activities, and their belongings.

The house was designed to take into consideration how structures and objects are experienced in our daily lives, in both intentional and unexpected ways.
