Covenant Eyes is an introspective project that draws on my memories of the three years I spent in a religious cult as a gay man dealing with institutional oppression and the ambiguities of brotherhood, community, and physical and emotional intimacy. Taking the form of a virtual reality installation, wall-mounted physical prints, and a handmade zine, Covenant Eyes unpacks, reconstructs, and reclaims defining traumatic moments marked by the conflict between homophobia and brotherly intimacy.
