Elena Montemurro

“Coming of Age” is a series of photographs that depict my memories and fantasies of life growing up in America. Each photograph plays with character stereotypes and group stereotypes. I was inspired by movies made in the time period in which I grew up, always expecting my experience would be similar. I used color film to express my dreamy mood and approach to being a young, anxious teenager. These photos reflect much about myself, and those quirky heartbreaking moments while growing up.
