In my collection Origins & Endings, I use tailoring and astronomy to explore our own insignificance, impermanence, and ephemerality in relation to the universe. The twin forces of creation and destruction are part of nature and its laws, and humans have expended great effort in trying to understand and tame them. They are the source of great inspiration—moving us to both poetry and innovation.
What an exercise, therefore, to try to convey these phenomena through this medium—to capture something infinite in the form of an object as finite, impermanent, and mundane as a coat.
