R&R: Relief and Recovery

Advising
R&R: Relief and Recovery is a renewal plan for 9 Graham Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is currently the site of Boricua College, a school situated on the second and third levels of a triangle-shaped building, adjacent to above-ground subway lines. The neighborhood is rapidly changing, affecting the lives of the mostly Hispanic community that resides there. The program of the site will be aid and rehabilitation for individuals suffering from substance abuse. It will be a support center that community members can turn to at any hour of the day to find relief. The center will provide treatment for all parties affected by substance abuse through spaces designed for large-group meetings, smaller family support rooms, and individual counseling rooms, as well as patient treatment rooms that are similar to those of a traditional medical facility. The soft-treatment spaces will be situated on the second floor of the building, whereas the hard-treatment spaces will be on the third floor. Additionally, the center will be divided between individuals who require medical treatment and those who are only seeking support. Narcan pens that can be used in the event of an overdose will be distributed at the center. See more on issuu .
