Ares Maia: Creating Art from Experience

Ares Maia is a designer, artist, and educator. In her zines, she shares, celebrates, and promotes new perspectives inspired by her experiences as an immigrant and visual artist. In 2024, The Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired seven zines created by Maia to add to its permanent collection.
