Yuan (Annie) Zhuang

Food is intimately associated with culture and embodies the memories and traditions of different communities. But the residents of this culturally diverse city often know little about the foods consumed by their neighbors. 3PLUMS DELICATESSEN is a collection of handmade objects celebrating the wide array of fruits and vegetables sold by urban street vendors. On the menu you will find everyday objects created from produce like lotus root, water chestnut, dragon fruit, and mangosteen, designed to acquaint city residents with foods from different cultures and promote interaction between communities. In making the items on the menu, I drew on skills I acquired in courses on topics like machine knitting, the artist's book, fine arts, and jewelry making.
