Bananas are a fundamental element of many people's diet, but their consumption generates a substantial amount of waste, more than three times the volume of the waste produced by the plants themselves. Inspired by the goal revolutionizing India’s tea culture, KELA is a pioneering project in which banana waste is used to make disposable, compostable cups for chai (tea). KELA is designed to forge profound connections with local Goan communities, farmers, and nature through regenerative design, serving as an example of an authentic product developed from the earth, for the earth.
