    Stone Hubbard

    Profile

    Stone Hubbard is an Assistant Professor at Parsons School of Design, where he develops and teaches courses in fashion product design with a focus on bags and footwear. With more than a decade of teaching experience, Mr. Hubbard previously served as Accessories Technologist and Precollege Instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY), where he redesigned the precollege curriculum for footwear and accessories, and as faculty at Brooklyn College, where he co-founded the In Pursuit of Luxury initiative with Dr. Veronica Manlow. He also taught fashion design at Riverside High School, expanding access to creative arts education. 

    Since joining Parsons in 2019, he has been recognized for innovative curriculum development, interdisciplinary mentorship, and guiding students to professional success, including award winners in Craft the Leather (2024) and the Global Footwear Design Award (2021, 2023, 2024). He was nominated for the Distinguished Teaching Award in 2022/2023. Notable student partnerships include collaborations with Keds and Tory Burch. He also teaches pre-college and summer academy programs, fostering early engagement in fashion and design.

    In addition to his academic work, Hubbard is the founder and designer of Stone Hubbard New York, a studio producing one-of-a-kind and limited-run leather goods. His designs have been featured in Vogue Türkiye, Vanity Fair UK, NBC’s NY Live, and exhibited at Hedi Cho Gallery's first wearable art exhibition. He has constulted and produced prototypes for brands including Stuart & Lau, Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors, and the EST/WST collective in Nepal. His background in theatrical costume design spans over two decades, with projects for Universal Studios, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and international stage and film productions.

    He holds a BFA and AAS in Accessories Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he graduated cum laude and magna cum laude, respectively, and has completed advanced studies at Marymount Manhattan College, Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy, and Otis College of Art and Design Summer Intensive.
