Sophie Brown

Profile

Sophie Brown is a writer and film programmer from the UK. Her book-length essay project Postcards was shortlisted for the Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize in 2024. Her writing has appeared in Astra Magazine, Sight and Sound, The Quietus and Dazed & Confused Magazine and she has had essays commissioned by the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London) and Club des Femmes. She has programmed films for the BFI London Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest and the British Council. She reviews documentary funding applications for the Sundance Institute and is currently co-editing a book on Barbara Loden's Wanda.
