• Profile:

Sonya Sklaroff lives and works in New York City. She is represented by galleries in New York and throughout Europe and her work is included in prestigious private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide.

While best known for her paintings of New York City (mainly rooftops and water towers), she can also be seen traveling around the world with her plein air easel box setting up on site to capture every day life in rural landscapes and interiors. She particularly loves to paint in the late afternoon and at dusk, when the golden light creates long shadows, or when objects become silhouetted against the bright sky of twilight.

Sklaroff has enjoyed teaching at Parsons since 1999. She graduated with a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and has an MFA in painting from Parsons. Sklaroff has received numerous honors for her work and her paintings have been reviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Edition Internationale du Figaro, Elle Deco, American Arts Quarterly, and American Artist Magazine. The book "Sonya Sklaroff", with a preface by celebrated author Harlan Coben, was published in 2014 by Livre D'Art.
