Nina Edwards Anker

Profile

Dr. Nina Edwards Anker, Assoc. AIA, PhD, is an architectural designer with over 20 years of professional experience and founder and director of NEA Studio, a New York–based design collaborative working across interiors, architecture, sustainability, and wellness. Her practice specializes in sustainable spaces and holistic environments for wellbeing, combining cultural, collaborative, and environmental strategies with a focus on solar design, health, and material research. Working closely with collaborators and specialists, Nina continues to expand her research and practice in social and environmental justice, biomaterials, recycled materials, and the design of furniture, lighting, homes, and workplaces.

Her architectural approach is explored in her monograph, Cocoon House: Light in Sustainable Architecture and Design, published by Artifice Press. She previously served as Design Director at the urban think tank Terreform ONE and serves on the Architectural Review Board of her Long Island community. Her work has been featured in The Local Project, ELLE Décor, Dezeen, Frame, Domus, Surface, Architectural Record, and The New York Times.
