Leia Carter is a writer, communication designer, and educator based in New York City. Her work explores the intersection of identity and expression, the dynamics of interconnectedness in the natural world, and the roles that technology and innovation play in human evolution and narrative. Having served as adjunct faculty at Parsons since 2018, she guides students in the development of toolkits to both define and document their creative practices and processes. Leia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from The New School. Her thesis research in the semantics and semiotics of coding, Programming as Myth and Metaphor, led to her becoming a recipient of a Google scholarship in front-end web development. She is also a Cambridge-certified English Language educator, with language proficiencies in German, Turkish, Japanese, and French.
