Krista Johansson

Profile

P-T faculty at Parsons School of Design (ADHT) and Professor at School of Visual Arts, Krista Johansson aims to extend the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of research and in the class room. Krista holds a Ph. D in Philosophy from The New School for Social Research, and currently, she is working on a monograph on Nietzsche and art that draws upon her practice in dance, art and music. Awarded twice for outstanding teaching, and recipient of multiple fellowships since 2007, her interests lie in the intersection between art, thought and cross-cultural dialogue. Her first awarded art projects engaged the viewer with an installation that drew upon her childhood, loss, and the healing that art enables us to experience. Her current research project examines the influence of Eastern thought traditions and art making on Western thinkers.
