Erik Freer is a multidisciplinary designer, artist, and writer based in New York City. He specializes in innovative storytelling, brand experiences, identities, and design systems across various media. Erik's practice includes curatorial, interactive, time-based, and print design, working with clients in the cultural, commercial, and technology sectors. With over ten years of experience, Erik combines strategic thinking, conceptual and intellectual rigor, and attention to detail. Notable collaborations include Art Omi Inc., the Brooklyn Rail, Harvard Graduate School of Design, MoMA, Neue Galerie New York, New Museum, Pentagram (Michael Gericke), Primary Information, Rice Architecture, and Wendy's Subway. His work has been recognized by prestigious organizations such as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Center for Urban Pedagogy, the One Club for Creativity, and the Tokyo Type Directors Club. Erik has been a faculty member at Parsons School of Design since 2018, teaching typographic, branding, experiential, and time-based design courses. He has also taught at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts and served as a guest critic at Yale University, Cooper Union, and Syracuse Architecture. Erik holds a BA in Literary Studies, a BFA in Communication Design, and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University.
