“My work embraces immediacy and the ascetics of paint. Value, color, and composition are ultimately the subject. However, dolls, as static copies of human form, can be manipulated and seem to come alive through painting. In the process, they offer unique opportunities for play. Conceptually, these toys are monikers for innocence and memory and seem to step back and forth across the line of what is real and what is not. The process of painting itself is ultimately make-believe.”
