Charles Goldman

Profile

Charles Goldman was born in San Francisco, CA in 1966. His multifaceted practice, which spans sculpture, photography, installation, performance, drawing, sound and painting, is concerned with the cyclical nature of life and the standardized units used in its measurement. He is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He has completed public projects for Art Caucuses, Tbilisi, Georgia, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Toronto Sculpture Garden and the World Financial Center / Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Exhibitions have taken place at The Museum of Art and Design, NYC, Peter Blum Gallery, NYC, Whitney Museum of American Art @ Altria, Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, Cambridge, MA, Maryland Art Place, Baltimore, MD, Artists Space, NYC, The Philip Feldman Gallery, Portland, OR, The Drawing Center, NYC, SculptureCenter, NYC and the Birch Libralato Gallery, Toronto, Ontario. He was a 2011 Guggenheim Fellow in Fine Arts. He is the founder and director of GRIDSPACE in Brooklyn, NY and the creator of RE>CRETE> -- a building material.
