The Onassis Foundation Fellowship in Ancient Greek Studies at The New School for Social Research is funded by the Onassis Foundation, which was established in 1975 by Aristotle Onassis to honor the memory of his son Alexander. 

Launched in 2014 under the directorship of Simon Critchley, Hans Jonas Professor of Philosophy, the Onassis Foundation Fellowship provides three years of funding to two PhD Philosophy students who work on ancient Greek thought, especially drama, philosophy, political theory, history, and poetry. It also supports the position of Onassis Lecturer in Ancient Greek Thought and Language, held by Gwen Grewal.
