Jeannie Oliver is a Part-time Assistant Professor in the School of Media Studies and a Teaching Artist in the strings program at the Noel Pointer Foundation, where she also served as Artistic Director from 2009-2013. Jean's academic interests have focused on music, media and society with a focus on first and second generation immigrant uses of music. She currently teaches the following courses: Music, Media and Scoiety and Reggae and the Representation of Difference.
Jeannie lives between Naples, Italy and New York City. She maintains an active international schedule that includes working as a free-lance violist, teaching violin in the Brooklyn Public schools, and acting as a production coordinator and cultural consultant for her creative agency Polemics.
