Profile
Trumpeter Tiago Linck has built a diverse international career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and educator. A member of the American Brass Quintet since 2025, he serves on the trumpet and chamber music faculty of The Juilliard School. In addition to his role at Juilliard, Linck joined the trumpet faculty of the Mannes School of Music at The New School in September 2026.
Prior to establishing himself in the United States, Linck served for fifteen years as Principal Trumpet of the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) in Brazil, with which he appeared as soloist on numerous occasions. He is now a member of the New Jersey Symphony and performs regularly with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, while maintaining an active freelance presence in New York City. Since joining the American Brass Quintet, he has appeared at the Phillips Collection, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and The Clarice at the University of Maryland, as well as in performances and residencies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Oberlin Conservatory, and the University of Michigan. Upcoming performances include appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and with Akron Tuesday Musical.
As a soloist, Linck has performed extensively throughout Brazil and internationally, having made his solo debut at the age of twelve with the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra. A committed advocate for the expansion of the trumpet repertoire, he has commissioned and premiered numerous works, with a particular emphasis on music by Brazilian composers, many of whom have written works specifically for him. He has also introduced Brazilian audiences to works by leading international composers by giving their Brazilian premieres. His work as a performer has been recognized through national and international competitions, most recently with second prize in the Brass and Percussion division of the 2024 Sphinx Orchestral Partners Auditions (SOPA) Excerpt Competition.
Linck has maintained a longstanding commitment to teaching and mentorship, serving as a trumpet teacher at the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra’s Music School from 2014 to 2023. He has spent many summers on the faculty of the SESC International Music Festival in Brazil and regularly leads masterclasses at institutions and festivals throughout South America and the United States, including the São Paulo State School of Music (EMESP), Isla Verde Bronces International Brass Festival, International Jazz Trumpet Festival, and Eastern Michigan University. His teaching activities also include work with Juilliard Summer Music and the New Jersey Symphony’s educational programs.
Originally from Porto Alegre in southern Brazil, Linck began his musical studies at home with his brother at the age of five. He took up the trumpet at eight and began his formal musical training at eleven at the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra’s Music School. He later studied at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Nice in France, where he earned the Diplôme d’Études Musicales under Patrick Carceller and Pierre Dutot. He also attended the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with David Krauss. Linck lives in Leonia, New Jersey, with his wife, cellist Jéssica Stoll, and their son, Miguel.
