Recognized for "injecting a fresh dimension to the sonic landscape" (ICareIfYouListen) and for "mingling baroque-tinged phrases with amorphous cosmic rhythms while maintaining the distinction of each in a grippingly harmonious manner" (Schmopera), Meng Wang’s work has been described as "always interested in something unpredictable" (New York Classical Review) and celebrated for its "innovative musical language combining Eastern and Western aesthetics" (Xinhua News Agency).  

Her compositions have been performed by leading orchestras and ensembles such as the Brussels Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Percussion Ensemble, China Youth Symphony, and Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. Her work has been featured at major festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Bowdoin International Music Festival, China Shanghai International Arts Festival, MISA Shanghai Summer Festival, and Beijing Modern Music Festival.  

Originally from China, Meng’s music draws inspiration from ancient Chinese music, folk songs, Eastern philosophy, poetry, as well as Western avant-garde, jazz, rock, and sounds from nature. She holds degrees in music composition from the University of Cincinnati (DMA, 2022), the Manhattan School of Music (MM, 2017), and the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (BM, 2013). Meng currently teaches in the Precollege Divisions of both the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes School of Music. Her works are published by Donemus Publishing, a leading contemporary classical music publisher established in 1947.
