    Brandon Meyers

    Profile

Dr. Brandon Meyers is both a collegiate faculty member and a member of the leadership team at the Mannes School of Music. Since joining Mannes in 2023 as the school’s Performance and Ensemble Manager, his primary objective has been to oversee and direct the vast majority of the instrumental performance activities for the college, which includes the chamber music program, performance juries, staff piano services and policies, the George and Elizabeth Gregory Concerto Competition, instrumental masterclasses, and more. As a faculty member, he teaches courses related to collaborative piano, chamber music, musicology, and theoretical analysis.

Under Dr. Meyers’ leadership, Mannes has implemented new, diversified, and required proficiencies for the chamber music program, and created dozens of new courses related to both chamber music and collaborative practices. For the college’s annual performance juries, he has created new year-end assessment practices and procedures for every department throughout the school. As a collaborative pianist himself, Dr. Meyers overhauled and modernized the way in which staff pianists function within Mannes, and he has implemented new policies, practices, and procedures to help care for all of the pianists within the school. All of these new initiatives have expanded the curricular scope of the performance program at Mannes, which has not only created a wider breadth of ensemble experiences and repertoire offered to the college’s students, but has also helped increase the overall performance level of the school.

In 2024, Dr. Meyers founded the new Chamber Music Festival at Mannes. The festival is a week-long, biannual festival that not only highlights the chamber music activities of the college’s students, but also features guest ensembles, the school’s first-ever chamber music masterclasses, and lectures and seminars focused on chamber music studies. Since the festival’s creation, the school has witnessed the largest overall increase in the number of its non-student audience members for chamber music performances in decades.

As a chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Dr. Meyers has performed around the world alongside such renowned artists as the percussion quartet Sō Percussion; violinists Charles Castleman and Njioma Grevious; violists Jordan Bak and Csaba Erdélyi; cellist Thomas Landschoot; flutist Seth Morris; clarinetist Anton Rist; trombonist Carlos Jiménez Fernández; tubist Douglas Tornquist; soprano Meredith Wohlgemuth; baritone David Pittman-Jennings; pianists Lydia Brown and Eugenia Tsarov; and conductors James DePreist, Cristian Măcelaru, and Helmuth Rilling. As a proponent of new music, he has collaborated with a number of living composers, including Martin Hennessy, David Serkin Ludwig, and Matthias Pintscher.

Dr. Meyers holds degrees from The Eastman School of Music, The Juilliard School, and The University of Southern California. His mentors include Dr. Jean Barr, Dr. Lydia Brown, Prof. Jonathan Feldman, Prof. Kevin Fitz-Gerald, Dr. Pei-Shan Lee, Dr. Cameron Stowe, and Prof. Eugenia Tsarov. Dr. Meyers previously served as a Chamber Music Specialist at the Music Academy of the West, and as an official staff pianist at The Juilliard School.
