Description:
This course will be an investigation of the continual rebuilding of cities and urban centers as an important environmental process where art and design can have a greater role. In particular, this class will explore how the process of improvisational urbanism and local projects impact cities in a global age. This class will target site(s), and deliver a skill set necessary to employ small-scale and socially engaged, spontaneous interventions using design to enrich public space and foster civic life. Students will consider the relationship between maker and user. Students will generate action-oriented outcomes that benefit communities.

Open to: BS in Urban Design majors only; others by permission of BS in Urban Design program. Pre-requisite OR co-requisite: PSDS 2510 Visualizing Urban Change.
