This course examines agricultural endeavors in urban environments and explores ways in which food production has been envisioned within the city landscape. Students survey concepts of urban agriculture, its place in the food system, its economics, and its environmental implications. Case studies focus on New York City. The course integrates readings and discussion with field trips, guest lectures, and media resources.
