Magazine's September Issue to Feature the Work of Parsons 2015 BFA Fashion Graduates in Multimedia Campaign

NEW YORK, May 15, 2015 Seventeen, the largest monthly teen media brand, announced today that it will partner with Parsons School of Design, home of The New School’s legendary BFA in Fashion Design program, to celebrate the next generation of fashion designers. The magazine’s September issue will include an eight-page editorial spread featuring the work of four award winning student designers, who will be chosen at the annual Parsons Fashion Benefit on Tuesday, May 19 at the Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center in New York City.

The panel of judges selecting the winning collections will include Aya Kanai, executive fashion director for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen, tasked with helping to select the 2015 Womenswear Designer of the Year Award winner, who will be featured in book and online, alongside three other student designers and notable Parsons graduates. Parsons Fashion Benefit, now in its 67th year, honors fashion innovators including Marc Jacobs and LVMH (2015), Jason Wu and Hugo Boss (2014), Proenza Schouler and Hudson’s Bay (2013), Donna Karan (2012), and Reed Krakoff (2011), while also highlighting the top collections of graduating students in the Fashion Design program during a two-part runway show. Funds raised at the event support scholarships at Parsons, a global leader in art and design education with programs that span the disciplines.

In addition to the fashion spread in the magazine, Seventeen will also produce a behind-the-scenes video featuring the work of Parsons 2015 Womenswear Designer of the Year Award winner and their runway collection shown during the Parsons Fashion Benefit. This video will live on Seventeen.com and will be given to the award winner to add to their professional portfolio.
