  • In the Design and Technology BFA program at Parsons, code becomes your second language and expressive means of connecting with others. Choose one of two pathways — Game Design or Creative Technology — and solve design problems by remixing software, hardware, art, and design in new and creative ways. You develop a sustainable process for researching, experimenting, designing, prototyping, iterating, and producing projects that keeps pace with evolving technology.

    Program Highlights

    • Game Design Pathway

      Gain an understanding of the game design process, from brainstorming to game publication, with a focus on the aesthetic and cultural aspects of designing games.

    • Creative Technology Pathway

      Combine physical computing, coding, user experience, responsive environment, and immersion technology to develop innovative design solutions and creative expression.

    • Original Projects

      Work on projects ranging from wearable technology and socially conscious video games to digital art and products that address accessibility.

    • Industry Insights

      Visit and engage in projects with industry leaders and organizations like Apple, Atari, Rockwell Interaction Lab, Eyebeam Art & Technology Center, MTV, Nickelodeon, Siemens, and UNESCO.

  • Curriculum

    Your BFA begins with Parsons’ first-year curriculum, which serves as the academic foundation for all undergraduate programs at Parsons. From your second year on, you dive into courses in your major field of study. Art and design history and theory courses develop your research, writing, and critical reasoning  skills, and university electives broaden your perspectives.

    Graduates of the BFA Design and Technology program are equipped for careers in game design, virtual reality and immersive experience design, motion graphics, animation, video production, front- and back-end Web design, design research, and graphic arts.

    Cloud Salon Series

    This Design and Technology webinar series invites artists, designers, technologists, and industry professionals to present their projects, often work engaging with issues of social justice and critical practice.
