Trauma, Loss and Resilience

This course will explore the study of trauma and loss from a range of  perspectives including psychoanalytic, attachment, and cognitive dimensions. Normative and pathological processes of bereavement will be covered including complex bereavement. Psychotherapeutic interventions associated with trauma therapy will also be covered with special attention to treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in children and adults. Specific areas associated with trauma include outcomes associated with traumatic events such as physical or sexual abuse, war and political conflict including 9/11. The course will also cover individual and environmental sources of resilience and vulnerability.
