This course focuses on the analysis of global economic issues, including the relation between trade and environmental change, the problem of global payments imbalances, the developmental consequences of foreign direct investment, international migration, the structure and function of global supply chains and the global importance of the emergence of China and India. The course exposes students to a variety of theoretical and empirical methods for analyzing the global economy. Lectures will be by the instructor and outside experts. Prerequisite: Graduate Microeconomics or Graduate Macroeconomics or the permission of the instructor. This course can count towards the Gender Studies requirements at Eugene Lang College.
