Students are introduced to descriptive and inferential statistics. The course is characterized by a bottom-up, problem-solving approach, starting with research questions and answering them based on empirical data. Accordingly, the course is taught hands-on, using SPSS. Topics include frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and variability, data screening techniques, hypothesis testing, correlation, simple regression, and parametric and non-parametric tests for mean differences. Credit in this course does not count toward fulfillment of the credit requirements for a degree in psychology. Attendance of TA sessions is mandatory for this course.
