By reading In Search of Lost Time (Remembrance of Things Past) in light of the Proustian experience of France’s literary but also political history, and with regard to Freud’s work on sublimation (compare my 2005-2006 course: ‘On Sublimation’), this seminar proposes to raise the question: Is literature as an experience still possible today?
