• Roshii Jolly: Flexibility for Career Change

  • Roshii Jolley
“The New School’s progressive mission, openness to social change, and intellectual rigor impressed me. Learning more about the MA TESOL program at an open house, I found it sensitive to the needs of career changers like me.”

Born in India and raised in Teheran and London, Roshii Jolly came to New York 22 years ago with her husband. For more than ten years, she worked for an international airline, in what she calls “the interesting and fast-paced but stressful corporate world.” She then started thinking about a career that would offer her flexibility and allow her to give something back to the community.

A speaker of six languages herself—and someone aware of the communication challenges of today’s global economy—she explored the possibility of teaching English to adults.

“It took me two years to find the right program,” Jolly says. “The New School’s progressive mission, openness to social change, and intellectual rigor impressed me. Learning more about the MA TESOL program at an open house, I found it sensitive to the needs of career changers like me."
