Dr. David O’Connor is Chief of the Policy Integration and Analysis Branch of the UN Division for Sustainable Development. His Branch analyzes emerging issues in, and innovative policy and finance for, sustainable development. It also supports the Marrakech Process on Sustainable Consumption and Production, initiated after the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development. Before joining the UN, Mr. O’Connor worked for a decade and a half at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, an inter- governmental think tank based in Paris, where his last position was as senior economist in the OECD Development Centre, which does research into policy challenges in developing countries. In addition to contributing many professional journal articles and book chapters, he is author of a book on Managing the Environment with Rapid Industrialization: Lessons from the East Asian Experience. David holds degrees from Yale and the University of Wisconsin and completed his doctorate at the University of London.
