    Profile

Susan Lob has been a professional organizer for over 25 years, helping community residents and victims of abuse demand a seat at the table, shape policies and fight for justice. She has worked on a range of issues: tenant organizing and the fight for affordable housing; reducing infant mortality & the need for prenatal care services; welfare rights; child welfare & Family Court reform; food coop organizing; fighting for needed transportation; and ending violence against women. She founded the Voices of Women Organizing Project (VOW), a grassroots organization that trains and supports survivors of domestic violence as they organize to shape policies and hold systems accountable for meeting the needs of battered women and children. She served as VOW’s executive director from 2000 - 2009. Her organizing and advocacy work has included authoring many policy briefs. She currently coordinates the NYC Gender Justice Task Force, a coalition of advocates and survivors working to improve services for victims of domestic violence/interpersonal violence, rape/sexual assault, harassment, etc.

Lob has an M.S. from Columbia University School of Social Work and a B.A. in political science from Brooklyn College. She was a Revson Fellow at Columbia University (1986-87).
