David Eng is an accomplished and progressive communications, marketing and public relations professional with many years of extensive experience in the diverse for-profit and not-for-profit national and international arenas. He is the Vice President, Public Affairs at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, heading up the marketing, branding, advertising, public and community relations. Prior to joining the Tenement Museum, he was the Director of Marketing and Development for New York City’s Chinatown as part of the post-9/11 revitalization efforts spearheading the Explore Chinatown tourism marketing campaign. In 1995, he founded David Eng Communications, an innovative marketing and public relations full-service agency with a diverse roster of clients including The American Infertility Association, YWCA, the United Nations as well as product launches and roll-outs for Procter & Gamble, Del Monte, Febreze and FIT Fruit and Vegetable Wash. As Director of Communications and Public Relations, he has created and managed strategic communications for Gay Men’s Health Crisis and The American Foundation for AIDS Research, where he oversaw public policy, special events and program communications; New York City’s Department of General Services, where he helped create the landmark “I Love New York” advertising campaign; and The Metropolitan Opera, where he directed national and international publicity and public relations. Eng began his career in marketing and advertising and managed important national campaigns for Johnson’s Baby Powder, Metropolitan Life and New York Telephone. He has directed the media and public relations effort for prestigious political campaigns including Jay Rockefeller’s first senate campaign in West Virginia and Larry Rockefeller’s challenge of the New York State primary rules. Eng has spoken nationally and internationally on public relations and multiculturalism and diversity marketing and outreach in Birmingham (UK), Vancouver, Washington D.C., San Antonio and London.
