WHAT:

NYC Media Lab '17, a day-long celebration highlighting the best thinking, projects, and talent in digital media from 20 universities in New York City and beyond. Featuring:

  • Demo Expo — NYC Media Lab's signature science fair-style expo of 100-plus emerging media and technology projects, including a VR/AR pavilion, pitches from new startups and established companies, and more than a dozen faculty and community-led workshops (12:30 pm).
  • Data Science Prototyping Showcase with Catherine Schmitz — Schmitz, designer/technologist and Parsons School of Design alum, will present her AI project, RAICH, produced during the A+E Networks Digital Media Storytelling Fellowship (10 am).
  • Industry keynote with Tim Marshall — Marshall, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at The New School, will discuss the relationship between the university and NYC Media Lab (9 am).
  • Faculty keynote with David Carroll — Carrol, Associate Professor of Media Design at Parsons School of Design, will explore issues of data, privacy policies, and the current political climate (3:30 pm).
  • Conversations including Media Trends 2020 (Noon) and How AR + AI Will Change NYC (4 pm).
