NEW YORK (May 30, 2012) - Mannes College The New School for Music presents the 12th Annual New York Guitar Seminar (June 19 - 24) featuring performances by the world's leading classical guitarists. Under the festival theme High Performance: Preparation for Concerts, Auditions and Competitions, the Guitar Seminar offers a week of master classes, workshops, and rehearsals open to classical guitarists at all levels, as well as well as public concerts by performers including the Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo, Denis Azabagic, Jason Vieaux, and many more.

"Playing music is ultimately about sharing, but for musicians at all levels of accomplishment, public performance is often the cause of high anxiety and not high performance," said Laura Oltman, co-founding director of New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes and member of the Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo. "That's why we're thrilled to be welcoming this summer's roster, which includes some of classical guitar's finest musicians, to guide intensive hands-on learning and give world-class performances."

Along with public performances, the New York Guitar Seminar offers its first-ever après-concert open mic at Machiavelli Restaurant (June 21); solo, small, and large ensemble performance opportunities; ensemble coaching; and auditioning and competition workshops.
