NEW YORK (September 6, 2012) - The acclaimed annual women's empowerment conference, the WIE Symposium (Women: Inspiration and Enterprise) enters its third year with another stellar list of inspirational global thinkers. The event invites prominent female role models from the fields of politics, business, philanthropy, media and the arts to inspire the future generation of women leaders. Taking place over the weekend of September 22nd and 23rd at The New School in New York, WIE coincides with UN Week and the meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, a time of active discussion around prominent social issues in the city.
The New Guard is the 2012 conference's central theme, highlighting and supporting the new generation of women achievers, as well as a few of the pioneers who paved the way for them. Speakers include Princeton University's Anne-Marie Slaughter, author of recent Atlantic cover story "Why Women Still Can't Have It All"; British barrister and activist Cherie Blair; Susan Lyne, Chairman, The Gilt Group; Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis; business pioneer Sheila Johnson and many others.

WIE's other partners include Johnson & Johnson and Dermalogica. WIE is also proud to support Dress for Success, an organization that helps disadvantaged women by providing professional attire and career development tools.
The 2012 WIE Symposium will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions and master classes covering topics increasing the number of women in leadership positions, challenging the role the media plays in body image, and successfully balancing motherhood and business. Panel topics include: The Business of Creativity, how to turn a creative passion into a profit making business; No VP Left Behind, how we change the statistics and increase the number of women in leadership positions in major corporations; MomPreneurs, women who successfully balance motherhood and business; Go Fund Yourself, where a group of powerful funders will advise budding entrepreneurs on money-raising techniques and common mistakes; and Social Enterprise, exploring "for-profit" companies in the social good space.
