egas mural

Please join curators Silvia Rocciolo and John Wanzel, and Radhika Subramanian, director of the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons, for a gallery talk regarding the recent restoration of the mural "Ecuadorian Festival," by Camilo Egas. The 17-foot-long mural was commissioned by The New School in the early 1930's for its first building, an International Style landmark by Joseph Urban on West 12th Street.

After many years out of public view, the mural has been cleaned and restored, and is being displayed as part of (re)collection, an exhibition that explores the daily lives of art objects and the role of institutional art collections in the 21st century. (re) collection  features approximately 40 works from The New School’s art collection, including pieces by Larry Bell, Clegg and Guttman, Shirin Neshat, Roxy Paine, Peter Saul, Richard Tuttle, and Carrie Mae Weems.

To RSVP please contact Deborah Kirschner at [email protected] or 212.229.5667 x4310.
