After emerging from a decade of civil war the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, established in 2008, has earned the world's attention by uniting several Maoist and Marxist political parties to build a government and a nation founded on the principles of democratic representation. The New School's India and China Institute hosts Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the recently elected Prime Minister of Nepal in discussion of how Marxism is relevant not only to Nepal, but to current global affairs. In addition to Dr. Bhattarai's lecture, the event will also include commentary from distinguished scholars and audience Q&A. |
