NEW SCHOOL UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES LA GUARDIA 2002 SCHOLARS PROGRAM

BOB KERREY ANNOUNCES FIVE $100,000
LA GUARDIA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TOP NYC STUDENTS

(New York, NY – February 11, 2002) New School University and its President Bob Kerrey announced that it is creating a new scholarship program, the La Guardia Scholars Program, which will award five $100,000 scholarships to New York City’s top high school students. The scholarships will be open to all public, private and parochial high school seniors applying to Eugene Lang College, the undergraduate, liberal arts division of New School University. Lang College is located at 65 West 11th Street in Manhattan. The La Guardia Scholars Program is designed to strengthen the University’s commitment to NYC.

In announcing these scholarships, President Kerrey commented, "These scholarships will enable five outstanding students from each of the five boroughs to get the best education that a New York City institution can offer. And, it is our hope that our La Guardia 2002 Scholars will use their New School University experience to give something back to our great city and personally contribute to its progress."

Eugene Lang College, a division of New School University, is an undergraduate, liberal arts college. Lang College offers an interdisciplinary curriculum organized into five broad areas of concentration: Literature, Writing and the Arts; Social and Historical Inquiry; Mind, Nature and Value; Urban Studies; and Cultural Studies.
