(July 12, 2001 – New York, NY) Inside The Actors Studio, the television series that originates at the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University has received its fifth Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Non-Fiction Series for the episode entitled, Inside The Actors Studio: Mike Myers. The nomination was announced today in Los Angeles. The show’s creator, James Lipton - who also serves as Executive Producer/Writer/Host for the series - will attend the September 8, 2001 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Pasadena, California.

Each episode of Inside The Actors Studio, in which James Lipton interviews a celebrated actor, actress, or director, in-depth, about his or her life and career, is a course in the Actors Studio Drama School attended by students who participate in the interview and then remain in the classroom session with the guest as teacher. The students pose questions to the guest related to craft. The show is taped and edited for later telecast on Bravo, The Film and Arts Network.

Inside The Actors Studio: Mike Myers premiered on the Bravo network on January 14, 2001. About to begin its 8th season and with more than 100 shows to its credit, Inside The Actors Studio, which is Bravo’s signature series, airs on Sunday evenings at 8 PM/ET. Bravo recently reached a landmark with the taping of its 100th episode with actor Gene Hackman, which will air on October 14, 2001 in a special 2-hour telecast. Other upcoming premieres include Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas, Kevin Kline, Burt Reynolds, Roseanne, Vanessa Redgrave, and Ben Stiller.

This is the fifth Emmy nomination for Inside The Actors Studio, which also received two CableACE Award nominations for Best Talk Show, winning in 1997. In 2001, the show won the Golden Angel Award for Excellence in Media for Best Interview Show.
