    Kaiki Camp

Kaiki Camp reimagines traditional Greek fishing boats as floating cabanas.

The project focuses on new ecotourism opportunities in Greece while reviving an ancient craft — traditional boat building. Modern versions of traditional Greek fishing boats are redesigned to be open living spaces used for hospitality. Their fabrication blends new technologies with centuries-old boat building techniques.

This project was created in response to a recent ill-conceived regulation that threatens a piece of Hellenic heritage. In response to overfishing, the European Union has started paying 6,000 to 260,000 euros to fishermen to cut their boats in half. This project aims to raise awareness about a dying tradition and will educate visitors about one of the most unknown, yet important, aspects of Greek civilization and development.
